Okay, so there may be an instance or two where you have to do the contract the old fashioned way – you know with the dreaded paper (to get the dog moved to Happy Tails) there are a few things you will need to do.
- 1. Go to the Dog’s Page and click on Select Adopter under My Pack. This brings you up a list of Final Approval Adopters; just select the one you want.
- You will get a pop-up box asking if you want to send the email. Click NO and Send Now – yes, it is counter-intuitive, but that’s how you get the instructions to the scamps of the software not to wake up the cyber carrier pigeons.
- While the adopter did not get the email, before going back and taking another nap, the scamps added a contract tab under Internal Information.
- If you click on that, you will get a box where you can now get to the (unsent) contract. You want to click on the Open Contract Page:
- This will give you the contract set up by your admin which the Adopter would have gotten.
- You will agree to all the terms and conditions, then sign at the bottom with “Signature on File” assuming you have good “mouse skills”. Also, change the date of submission to the date the paper contract was signed.
- Once you click Submit, you will be taken back to the Internal Information section of the dog’s record. No you have to process the payment. If they gave you a credit card which you have NOT processed, then click on Open Adoption Payment Page and process and complete the payment. If you already have processed a credit card or other onloie payment, check the Was Payment Made Offline box.You’ll get a confirmation popup. Click Confirm.
- The Payment box will not indicate completed and it’s time to finalize the adoption. Change the adoption date to when the adoption was actually done (if different). Select the location where the adoption occurred, click the Finalize Adoption Now, then either the Finalize Adoption or the Finalize & Send Certificate buttons.
- The Finalize Adoption Only completes the process and you are done. The website will send a confirmatory email to the adopter which was set up by your admin.
- The Finalize & Send Certificate allows you to send a different email to the adopter from the one set up by your admin. This is particularly handy if you want to send them further information:The adopter also gets this cute little certificate via email with the dog’s picture and adoption date:
- Now for the legal stuff – you need to scan the contract and add it to the Documents section of the Dog’s Record. To do that:
- Click on the Documents Tab to get the Upload box:
- You can “Drag and Drop” if you are working with a split screen, and if you don’t know what that is, use the Add Files button. When you do that, it will open your computer directory so you can select the contract you just uploaded.
- Click “Open,” and your files will upload.
- Then click either the Start icon or the Refresh icon and your contract will appear!
Meanwhile, the busy little scamps of the software have now removed the dog from the public website and the active dog roster, moved him to the Happy Tails section, marked him as adopted by the adopter on his page on the Time Line, moved the adopter to the adopted section of the adopter roster, and marked him as adopted on the Adopter’s Time Line. Whew!
This completes the exercise in doing things the “old fashioned” way.
